Menlo Park’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is now accepting applications through May 24!

The YAC is a great learning experience for teens to become more familiar with local government as they advise the Parks & Recreation Commission on matters relating to the youth and teen population within the City of Menlo Park. The YAC also assists with programs relating to safety, community involvement, special interests, recreation, sports, socialization, and socio-economic and environmental concerns.

Students in grades nine – 12 who live within Menlo Park city limits or attend a Menlo Park high school are eligible to apply.

Interested students should:
✅ Demonstrate leadership in school and/or community activities.
✅ Express an interest in advising the City Council and staff on teen issues and representing your fellow teens.
✅ Be willing to commit about 8 hours per month.
✅ Be able to commit to at least a one-year term.

The City of Menlo Park is pleased to announce that its 2023-2031 Housing Element has been certified by The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD)!

The Housing Element is in substantial compliance with state Housing Element law. It was adopted by the City Council Jan. 31, 2023, and amendments to the Housing Element were adopted by the City Council Jan. 23, 2024.

“Certification is a major milestone for the City’s Housing Element and is essential to our efforts to meet the housing needs across all income levels,” said Mayor Cecilia Taylor. "This accomplishment was made possible through the hard work of the Menlo Park community.”

The City invites you to apply for all advisory bodies if you are interested in examining issues of community concern and providing valuable guidance to the City Council.

Current vacancies include:

Three vacancies on the Complete Streets Commission.
Three vacancies on the Environmental Quality Commission.
Three vacancies on the Finance and Audit Commission.
One vacancy on the Housing Commission.
Two vacancies on the Library Commission.
Two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Two vacancies on the Planning Commission.

All applicants must be 18 or older, a resident of Menlo Park and committed to attending scheduled meetings. Term length will vary for each advisory body.

🚰 NOTICE for Menlo Park Municipal Water customers.

To improve customer service, Menlo Park Municipal Water is transitioning to a third party billing service from Minol Inc. to Util360.

By May 2024, customers will have access to an all-new online portal with enhanced features that will include better water usage tracking, automatic water leak alerts, more payment options, fixed billing due dates and consistent autopay dates.

Facts to note:
💧 There is no impact on set water fees and rates.
💧 Water service will not be interrupted.
💧 Once the online system is live in May, customers will need to update their payment information. Additional actions needed by customers will be communicated before the system goes live.
💧 No action is required at this time.
